My York City Career Thread Empty My York City Career Thread

Post by Fabio MVP Tue Apr 20, 2010 11:58 pm

So, my first FM, actually CM, was CM03/04 and since then on every next FM I only played with Man Utd. That is my favourite club as you know.

On FM09 after instaling the 3rd patch I wanted to try my self in LLM. As I couldn't play Bosnian league back then, I wanted to manage some club from BSP or BSN/S. As I don't know those clubs very well, I spoted York City. It gain my attention because of it's name (it reminded me of Dwight Yorke Very Happy) I picked them and stared the game.

I only though played two seasons. But, in the first one I remember getting promotion after being 1st. Ever Guzman was the man back then :*) I finished 8th in the League 2 next season though.

This year, after instaling 3rd patch again, I decided to go with York City all the way. (I also play my Man Utd save from 10.3 from time to time).

I almost finished the first season. I won't be unveiling anything, so as soon as I finish it I'll update this thread. Smile

I hope you're going to enjoy it at least a bit and give feedback if you want.

    Cheers. Very Happy

    Season I – First half

My York career started by choosing that I'll finish mid-table at the end of season. Media predicted me to finish 11th, so TBH my goal was at least 10th place for the first season and promotion in the second season. The board also wanted me to reach at least 4th round of FA Trophy and at least 1st round of FA Cup.

As always, I like to have at least two players in every position. I decided to play 4-4-2 with AMR & AML, actually I decided to use the same tactic which I use in my Man Utd save on 10.3. That is the only way I want my teams to play. Smile

So here is what I did concerning transfers:

    Transfers

    https://2img.net/r/ihimizer/i/transfersg.jpg/

So, the three player I released, I didn't want to release them TBF, but I had to since I was over my wage budget. But, I still had two players in each postion.
As you can see I released Keeler in the second half of the season, even though I signed him at the begining, because he wasn't good enough in the first half of the season. That's why I loaned El-Haimour from Barnsley, who I got as a parent club after asking for one.

Here are screenshots of my singnings:

Keeler - https://2img.net/r/ihimizer/i/keeler.jpg/ As you can see he didn't really perform for
me, so he got released. He didn't find club in the second half of the season.

    El-Haimour - https://2img.net/r/ihimizer/i/elhaimour.jpg/ Muck better then Keeler.
Contributed a lot in the last couple of games. He was rotating with Claudio Pitt
(already loaned AML from Cambridge at the begining of the game).

Tully - https://2img.net/r/ihimizer/i/tully.jpg/ My first choice DR in the first season. Did really
really well as you can see from his statistic.

Kuklis - https://2img.net/r/ihimizer/i/kuklis.jpg/ What can I say for this one. Amazing
playmaker for my team. Everything started from hin on the pitch. Just look at his
statistics. My second best signing.

Topp - https://2img.net/r/ihimizer/i/topp.jpg/ Topp a top player. He ran the show in almost
every game. Clearly not a BSP level. I dare to say a Championship level. And yes, he is
my best signing. Again, look at his stastics.

My York City Career Thread Empty Re: My York City Career Thread

Post by Fabio MVP Mon Apr 26, 2010 4:03 pm

When I set up everything, it was time to get on with some friendlies (which were already arranged). TBH I never care about the results in friendlies, I just want my team to play well, to blend, to get use to my tactics etc.

Anyway, here are the results - https://2img.net/r/ihimizer/i/frindlies.jpg/

It was finally the time for competitive matches to begin. What could I conclude from friendlies is that my team is meeteng my expectations - not the best, not the worst. So mid-table just as I thought.

Here are the fixtures from the first half of the season - https://2img.net/r/ihimizer/i/fixtures1.jpg/ and the rest of first hal of the season fixtures - https://2img.net/r/ihimizer/i/fixtures2.jpg/

Above any expectations TBH. I don't have a screenie of a league table after first half of the season. Sorry for that. But, mostly Topp and some other players were leading the team toward such results. There were few disappointmenst but, also a few unexpectedlly good results.

    FA Cup

As for FA Cup, I reached 1st round and completed that board request.

    Fa Cup 4th. round Qual. - https://2img.net/r/ihimizer/i/facup1.jpg/

However, 1st didn't went well (not that I expected it though) - https://2img.net/r/ihimizer/i/facup2.jpg/

My FA Cup season ended by heavy loss to Norwich, but as I said I didn't really expected to go through, even though I tried. Very Happy

    FA Trophy

In FA Trophy we were more ambitious logically, as was my board, so they wanted me to reach at least 4th round of competition.

    1st Round - https://2img.net/r/ihimizer/i/fatrophy1.jpg/

    2nd Round - https://2img.net/r/ihimizer/i/fatrophy2.jpg/

    3rd Round - https://2img.net/r/ihimizer/i/fatrophy3.jpg/

    4th Round - https://2img.net/r/ihimizer/i/fatrophy4.jpg/

Completed the required in FA Trophy also, but I felt we could go on and win competiton, but unexpected defeat to Eastbourne Boro knocked us out.

Second half of the season and here is how the results looked - https://2img.net/r/ihimizer/i/fixtures3.jpg/ https://2img.net/r/ihimizer/i/fixture4.jpg/

And, yes we won the league!!! Really, but really I wasn't expecting this. It's just that my tactic suited my team so much. We were on fire almost all the time. It was tricky at the end of the season. Oxford were pushing us all the way, but I took pressure off my players, who responded in couple of wins in the last few games to seal the titile-promotion.

Squad at the end of the season - https://2img.net/r/ihimizer/i/squadk.jpg/

    Overall - https://2img.net/r/ihimizer/i/overallf.jpg/

    Top Goalscorer - https://2img.net/r/ihimizer/i/brodie.jpg/

So, brilliant season for me. Above all expectations should I say. League football here we come!

I now need to complete my squad for the second season. Here my already arranged transfers for the second season:

    Biernacki - https://2img.net/r/ihimizer/i/biernacki.jpg/

    Heath - https://2img.net/r/ihimizer/i/heath.jpg/

Maybe this isn't the stroy thread you we're expecting, but I wouldn't let my self into that with my English TBH. This is more of an update of my carrer. I hope you like it. Any feedback and suggestions are welcome as this is my first time that I'm posting something like this.

If you want to know more, just ask or if you want some particular screenies also just ask.

    Cheers. Very Happy
