Forum ideas thread.

As we are the founding members if this site, I'd like to give everyone an opportunity to throw some ideas at me, things that you think could improve the forum. I'm hoping this forum grows and I'm prepared to push it and promote to get it more active. Below is a list of things that have already been looked at which will be updated as we go.

Does the news bar at the left hand side of the page need to be there all the time?

Which one? The Telegraph one or the latest forum one? I can get rid of them completely or replace them with something else, like flash games

What you think of the forum now?

I like the new banner at the top. That's class.

I don't like the stuff down the right hand side though. It squashes the forum somewhat, and you have to scroll to the right to see anything.

Down the left you mean?

I can move them, I was just experimenting. It all fits the page nicely for me so would be interesting to see how others find the page setup?

I'm off to work now but I'll be on here tomorrow sorting bits & bobs out

Yeah, I meant the left.

It might be because I'm not a netbook, but the banner fits fine...

Recruitment isn't going that well.

You know on the maiin page, where the forum titles are like everyday discussion etc, the little icons that show if there is a new post/locked etc. I borrowed them from somewhere

only things id say that needs doing is the icons under the name they look poor on the dark background, and the icons on the front page the new post ones etc i dunno they just dont look right

Which ones? You mean like Home/Calendar etc? The new topic ones will do until I can find some that a) fit and b) look nice.

I'd like the thread icons (ie. the the ones telling us if a thread has a new post) to be more vivvid.(sp?)
I have missed many posts because the icons for "no new"-, and new posts are very simillar.

Multiple options = things need doing!

Your idea, Ulrich is one I already think myself. I struggle with them and I am trying to hunt some down that fit properly and don't look out of place. It's harder than I thought @(

Not bad. If it won't trouble you a lot add all the smileys you can. If it will, it's fine with these too.

Which ones do you want replacing? I can mix them up but it may take a while. If I knew any specific ones you fancied then it would be easier?

Also, would be good to see who's online when viewing thread. E.g. above our avatar it could say 'Online' or 'Offline'.

I'm loving these uncommons, but these standard ones like: , , , , could be better IMO. If everyone agrees of course.
