Thing about United, as a fan of an opposing team they just don't scare me without Rooney. Withouth him they look distinctly average in my opinion.

I'd love Newcastle to be as average as them like, but i mean compared to United's own standards.

Jesus Vic, it's one season and things could still change. Try being a geordie and having to put up with the 'you haven't won anything for 50 years' jibes constantly. End of the day, winning things is nice (I think, I wouldn't know ) but following your team means much more than a trophy

Possibly the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard.

Of course the aim is to win things, it's the aim of any team in any league in any country. The prize is there to be won and is a target for everyone. Granted it isn't a realistic target for everyone but the goal is always the same - to win things.

We get disappointed every year, without fail pretty much as the same clubs sweep up the trophies between them. It gets boring, it gets repetitive, but we still follow our team in the hope we can win something, however unlikely it may be.

There is a whole world outside the Top 4, Sky TV, the press and fans of those top 4 teams will do well not to forget it.

I'm sorry our dissappoint doesn't seem to measure up against that of the mighty Sky 4.

With all due respect, next year when you're in the Prem, you're not going to be expected to win the league, are you? Man Utd are expected to come up with the goods year after year. I think it would hurt a lot less to not win if the expectations were lower.

Look, the dream is for all of our clubs to be winning things. Every fan wants their team to be at the top. I get what your saying about expectaions not being fulfilled, but other teams also have aspirations that aren't fulfilled.
